Berlin Brandenburg-Trophy

The Berlin Brandenburg-Trophy is a Group 2 flat horse race in Germany for three-year-old and above thoroughbreds. It is run over a distance of 1,600 metres (approximately 1 mile), presently in early August.

It was first run in 1991 at Hoppegarten and was initially classed as a Group 3 race, before it was promoted to Group 2 status in 1994. Sometimes run under a sponsored title, such as the Mercedes Benz-Preis or the Grosser Porsche Preis, the race continued to take place at its original venue until 2004.

In 2005 it was transferred to Cologne, where it was run for two seasons as the Pferdewetten.de-Trophy. The race now takes place at Hanover, where it has been run as the ICT-Eslam-Trophy (2007) and the Grosser Preis der Sparkasse Hannover (2008).

Winners

* Royal Abjar finished first in 1994 but was later disqualified after testing positive for a banned substance.
