Camlaren Mine

Camlaren Mine

The Camlaren Mine was a small gold producer north-east of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada at Gordon Lake. It was staked in 1936 and developed with two shafts during 1937-1938. It did not produce any gold until 1963 when a large amount of ore was trucked to the nearby Discovery Mine. Mining Corporation of Canada Limited erected a milling plant at Camlaren and produced more gold in 1980-1981. The mine has been developed to convert|1000|ft|m depth. During its two operational periods, the mine has produced convert|36661|ozt|kg|sigfig=4 of gold from 64,137 tons of ore. The property was demolished sometime after the 1981 closure, and only the old chimney from the mine manager's house remains.
