Town Walls Tower

Town Walls Tower

Town Walls Tower is a building in the care of the National Trust in the county town of Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England in the United Kingdom.

Location

The Town Walls Tower is located in Shrewsbury town centre.

History

The Town Walls Tower is the very last remaining medieval watchtower surviving on what were once the medieval fortified, defensive walls of Shrewsbury. The tower dates from the 14th century, a time when the town was subject to attacks from the Welsh and like Shrewsbury Castle the tower was a means of observing the land around the town and the River Severn.
