Police radio

A Police radio is a communications radio system used by Law enforcement agencies, all over the world. The vast majority of economically developed countries police services have access to such equipment, also, in most countries, the Police car has a set which is designed to receive calls from the control room, and respond. Also, small personal radios exsist that allow each officer to carry one easily, as well as a large central room at the Police station which directs personell to the location of emergency incidents. Portable police radios first appeard within the British police in 1969

Due to security, the vast majority of countries have an encrytped radio system. This does not allow any other than the police themselves to listen to frequencies used.

Today, most police officers use radio scanners to receive police radio as well as other transmissions.
