Scott Ryan (Australian politician)

Scott Michael Ryan (born 12 May 1973) is an Australian politician. He has been a Liberal member of the Australian Senate since July 2008, representing the state of Victoria.

Ryan was elected to serve a six-year term in the Senate at the 2007 federal election, after being preselected in the third position on the Coalition ticket in Victoria.

Ryan was born in Brisbane. He is a former student politician and political staffer. He is reported to be factionally associated with former treasurer Peter Costello. He was a member of the executive of the Victorian Division of the Liberal Party, holding the office of Vice President. His work background is in corporate affairs for pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline.
