Muir Homes is one of the largest privately owned housebuilding companies in Scotland[1] based in Inverkeithing, Fife. It is part of the J. W. Muir Group, one of the leading property development companies in Scotland. It specialises in timber-framed construction of homes, bungalows and apartments in various regions of Scotland including Biggar, Leven and Alloa.

John Muir, one of the richest men in Scotland, set up Muir Homes in 1973.[3] A former joiner, he became Managing Director of Scothomes, part of Scottish Homes, before leaving to set up the company.[4]

Muir Group's other business interests includes a golf course, commercial property and a timber company.[5] In 2010, total staffing had reduced from a peak of 384 to 320 due to the recession.[2]
