Zhou Jianchao ( _zh. 周健超; born June 11, 1988 in Shanghai) [ [http://www.chessinchina.net/html/CHNrating05.8.htm 中国国际象棋运动员等级分数据库 ] ] is a Chinese chess Grandmaster.

In 2006, he became China's 20th Grandmaster at the age of 17.

Career

He learnt to play chess at the age of 6. Zhou was the runner-up of the National Individual Championship and joint runner-up of the World Team Championship in 2005. Zhou qualified for the Chess World Cup 2007 (held in Khanty-Mansiysk) where he reached Round Three. He eventually lost to Michael Adams after having upset Emil Sutovsky and Andrei Volokitin in the first two rounds. In this tournament he achieved a performance rating of 2687.

GM title

He achieved his first GM norm at the 2005 Aeroflot Open (A2 Group) having scored 6/9 (Elo rating perf. of 2727). His second GM norm was achieved at the 2005 Dubai Open having scored 6/9 (Elo rating perf. of 2664), and third GM norm was achieved at the 2006 Aeroflot Open (A2 Group) having scored 6.5/9 (Elo rating perf. of 2616).
