Darren McKillion was born in Magherafelt on the 17th of November, 1987 and is a sportsman in two codes, Gaelic football and soccer. He grew up in Draperstown and is currently a student at Queen's University, Belfast and is a housemate of two Gaelic Football county stars, Antrim's Justin Crozier and clubmate Dermot McBride.

=Gaelic= He plays gaelic football for Ballinascreen GAC and has done since U-10 level, making his way up through the respective age groups and made his senior debut at 18. He was centre-half back for their minor team in 2005 that won the Derry Minor Football Championship [Derry Minor Final Report http://derry.gaa.ie/coaching_youth/reports/mfc_final.html] . He also played for St Marys Magherafelt school team, and won Ulster medals in the Rannafast, McCormick [McCormick Cup Report http://www.ulstercollegesgaa.com/app/MatchReport.asp?SectionID=25&ArticleID=3013 ] and D'Alton Cups. He is predominately a half back, though has been used Ballinascreen forward line. Darren has been tipped to replace Paddy Crozier as the manager of Derry, a job he refused in 1992.

=Soccer=He plays soccer for Draperstown Celtic having made his debut at 15 after playing for the underage teams. He was made club captain at the start of the 2007/08 season and led them to their first ever O'Neills Northern Ireland Intermediate League title [Draperstown Celtic clinch League Title http://www.dc-fc.net/2008/04/23/dc-crowned-league-champions/ ] . Following the 2007/2008 season he was named Draperstown Celtic's Managers Player Of The Year.
