Aleksandr Zarkhi

Aleksandr Zarkhi (February 18, 1908 in Saint Petersburg, Russia - January 27, 1997 in Moscow, Russia) was a Soviet dramatist and film director.

In 1981 has been nominated for Golden Berlin Bear of the Berlin International Film Festival for the movie "Dvadtsat shest dney iz zhizni Dostoevskogo" ("Twenty Six Days from the Life of Dostoyevsky").

Works

His most notable films includes:
* "Deputat Baltiki" ("Baltic Deputy", 1937) – propaganda movie co-directed with Iosif Kheifits
* "Anna Karenina" (1967) – film adaptation of the Leo Tolstoy novel
* "Goroda i gody" ("Towns and Years", 1973)
* "Dvadtsat shest dney iz zhizni Dostoevskogo" ("Twenty Six Days from the Life of Dostoyevsky", 1980)
