Space Corps (comics)

The Space Corps of 2000AD's Judge Dredd strip are a professional international army which deals with conflicts and peacekeeping away from Earth. They have appeared in several stories, most notably "Judge Dredd: Mandroid" and its sequel.

They have been primarily shown fighting alien menaces off-world. Judge Dredd Megazine story "Warzone" showed them being used as an occupying force on a space colony to prevent it gaining independence, constantly fighting against local insurgent groups.

When Space Corps soldiers are severely wounded, they will sometimes be turned into cyborgs: nicknamed "Mandroids", they are highly powerful and designed solely for combat. They also have genetically engineered soldiers, with "Warzone" showing an early, primitive-minded version of the Genetic Infantry program from "Rogue Trooper".

They have never been shown to be a branch of any Justice Department. Spin-off series "The Corps" showed an off-world team of Mega-City One Judge-Troopers named the Corps that are used in highly destructive combat operations, as well as black operations such as trying to end a Sino-Cit/Kleggs alliance; it has never been explained what relationship they have with the Space Corps.
