GHD's hair irons are made by a South Korean company, KICA, that has so far produced a very successful range of hair products. The company's notability comes from its "iconic" line of hair irons, [cite web| last = Moore| first = Sheryl| title = Banks deal financial blow for NW market| publisher = Manchester Evening News| date = 2007-11-20| url = http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/business/s/1024996_banks_deal_financial_blow_for_nw_market| accessdate = 2007-11-25] which have been described as "one of the most successful hair products in history" by the Yorkshire Post. As a result, Martin Penny won the The North Region Consumer Products Entrepreneur of the Year in 2005 for the product, [cite web| title = The North Region Consumer Products Entrepreneur of the Year 2005| publisher = Cosmetics International| date = 2005-06-08| url = http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-134258183.html| accessdate = 2007-11-25 ] and Consumer Products Entrepreneur of the Year. The irons come in three sizes, "GHD IV Styler," "GHD IV Salon Styler", and "GHD IV Mini Styler". The 'GHD Styler' is the average size, while the 'GHD Salon Styler' uses larger heating plates, and the 'GHD Mini Styler' makes use of smaller plates. In 2008, GHD launched 2 limited edition 'Dark or Pure Stylers' in glossy black or white.

The irons use ceramic technology on their heating plates, which is the reason for the golden, rather than silver, appearance of the plates. The technology involves using ceramic on the blades rather than traditional metal which reduces the frizzing and damaging impacts on the hair caused by the severe heat. Regardless, GHD does offer several hair care treatments as well as a variety of other such products to counteract the heating effects of their straighteners. In February 2007, a rash of thefts targeted GHD hair straighteners at hair salons in the UK. [cite web| title = Robbers target city beauty salons| publisher = BBC News| date = 2007-02-07| url = http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/sussex/6338971.stm| accessdate = 2007-11-25]

Limited Editions

Each year, GHD releases several limited edition models to salons. Perhaps the most famous of these in Australia is their pink edition, released annually in October to support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The pink GHD styler has raised over £1.1m for Breakthrough Breast Cancer in the UK [ [http://www.compareghd.com/component/content/article/12-ghd-latest-news/40-ghd-pink/ GHD Pink Styler - A Short History] ; retrieved on 2008-07-08] .

In June 2008, GHD released a limited edition 'dark or pure' series. The styler is a mk4 styler; however, it is glossy rather than matte. The pure styler is entirely white, while the dark styler is entirely black. This range was limited to a release of 10 dark and 10 pure stylers per salon.

In 2005, GHD set up the GHD Expert Tour scheme to help further develop their relationship and strong association with professional hair salons. The tour included a roadshow around the UK where hairdressers were invited to learn the latest techniques and fashion looks which could be achieved with the GHD styler. The tour also gave salons the chance to enter the GHD Expert Awards. [GHD Expert Awards [http://www.haircareheaven.co.uk/news/ghd-expert-awards] ] .
