Incidents

2007 bombing

On June 15, 2007, a small homemade explosive, concealed in a snack wrapper and left on a concrete bench, was detonated at 9.10 pm (MST) at the Platform 7 entrance of the Puduraya bus station concourse, wounding an 11-year-old girl.cite web |url=http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2007/6/16/nation/18049645&sec=nation |title=Little girl injured in explosion at Puduraya |accessdate=2007-08-29 |author=Rashitha A. Hamid |date=2007-06-16 |publisher="The Star" ] The police, who vowed to investigate the motive of the blast and find the culprits of the bombing, ruled out the possibility that the bombing was masterminded and executed by militants, as certain quarters had claimed.cite web |url=http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2007/6/18/nation/18056180&sec=nation |title=Puduraya blast not work of militants |accessdate=2007-08-29 |author= |date=2007-06-18 |publisher="The Star" ] No news pertaining the bombings were available thereafter.

Ticket touts

Ticket touts at the Puduraya bus terminal are fleecing unsuspecting travellers espe-cially those who turn up at night after the counters are closed and are desperate to travel the next day.

These touts who sell fake tickets conveniently begin their dirty work after most of the ticket counters on the first floor of the bus terminal are closed.

Hundreds of people have pro-bably fallen prey to these cheats but only a handful have attempted to make a police report at the terminal’s police beat base – which is, amazingly, located just across from the ticket counters.cite web |url=http://thestar.com.my/metro/story.asp?file=/2007/11/19/central/19510515&sec=central|title=Ticket touts at Puduraya |accessdate=2008-05-02 |author=Elan Perumal |date=2007-11-19 |publisher="The Star" ]
