Howard County General Hospital

Howard County General Hospital is a 219-bed, not-for-profit, health care provider located in Columbia, Maryland. Serving the community since 1973, the hospital, with a professional staff of over 800 physicians and allied health professionals, representing more than 70 specialties and subspecialties, and a workforce of more than 1,700, has grown into a comprehensive, acute-care medical center that provides a full range of services, including care for women's and children's care, surgery, cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, gerontology, psychiatry, emergency services, and community health education. Since 1998, it has been a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine.

The hospital is undergoing a convert|233656|sqft|m2|sing=on construction/renovation project in its continuing effort to meet the health care needs of the community. The Campus Development Plan includes a new four-story, five-level tower that will house three inpatient floors as well as space for outpatient services and support departments. Renovation of convert|122970|sqft|m2 of existing hospital space will involve nearly every level of the existing hospital building. Upon completion, all patient rooms will be private. New construction is expected to be complete in summer/fall 2009, with renovation complete in fall 2011.
