The Brussels School of International Studies (BSIS), was founded in 1998 by the University of Kent at Canterbury. The intellectual creator of the School is Professor AJR Groom, a senior and highly respected academic in the field of International Relations. Under the stewardship of the founding Director, Dr Jarrod Wiener, the School expanded rapidly in a short time to become a campus of Kent, now known as the University of Kent at Brussels. The School now offers graduate degrees from numerous Departments of the University, including the Department of Politics and International Relations, The Kent Law School, and the School of Social Policy, Sociology, and Social Research. Current degrees offered are:

*MA in European Public Policy
*MA in International Relations
*MA in International Conflict Analysis
*MA in International Political Economy
*MA in Migration Studies
*MA in Political Strategy and Communication
*LLM in International Economic Law
*LLM in International Law and International Relations
*LLM in Public International Law
*MPhil/PhD in International Relations

As the name suggests, it is located in Brussels, Belgium.

The School operates in partnership with both the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the Université Libre de Bruxelles, the students have full access to three University campuses.

Faculty

The Founding Convenor of the International Conflict Analysis programme at BSIS was Professor Dr Christopher Daase, who held that post from 2000 to 2003, leaving when he became full Professor at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. He was succeeded by Professor AJR Groom.

Professor Wade Mansell led the creation of Law programmes at BSIS, and Dr Harm Schepel became the first member of the Kent Law School to be seconded to BSIS in 2002, whereupon he launched the LLM in International Economic Law.

Dr Geoffrey Pigman was founding Convenor of the International Political Economy programme in 2003-2004. He was succeeded by Dr Albena Azmanova, an internationally recognised political theorist, who launched the MA in European Public Policy.
