Vermilion Lake Township is a township in St. Louis County,
Minnesota, United States. The population was 326 at the 2000 census.
According to the
United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 36.6 square miles (94.8 km²), of which, 35.8 square miles (92.6 km²) of it is land and 0.8 square miles (2.1 km²) of it (2.27%) is water.
As of the
censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 326 people, 133 households, and 100 families residing in the township. The population densitywas 9.1 people per square mile (3.5/km²). There were 219 housing units at an average density of 6.1/sq mi (2.4/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 99.08% White, 0.31% Native American, and 0.61% from two or more races. 42.6% were of Finnish, 11.5% German, 7.4% Norwegian, 6.4% English, 6.1% Irish and 5.4% Swedish ancestry according to Census 2000.
There were 133 households out of which 24.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.7% were married couples living together, 4.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.1% were non-families. 20.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 2.80.
In the township the population was spread out with 21.2% under the age of 18, 5.2% from 18 to 24, 20.2% from 25 to 44, 44.2% from 45 to 64, and 9.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 46 years. For every 100 females there were 103.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 112.4 males.
The median income for a household in the township was $51,875, and the median income for a family was $55,625. Males had a median income of $45,069 versus $23,750 for females. The
per capita incomefor the township was $19,855. None of the families and 2.4% of the population were living below the poverty line, including no under eighteens and 2.9% of those over 64.
