Sursk ( _ru. Сурск) is a town in Gorodishchensky District of
Penza Oblast ,Russia , located on the left bank of theSura River , km to mi|92 east ofPenza . Population: 7,500 (2005 est.); 7,981 (2002 Census); 9,920 (1989 Census).It was founded c. 1860 as the village of Nikolsky Khutor ( _ru. Никольский Хутор), which separated from the village of Nikolskoye. In 1953, it was granted town status and renamed Sursk (after the Sura River).
