Jokela High School

Jokela High School is a public secondary school in Jokela School Centre ( _fi. Jokelan koulukeskus) in the village of Jokela, Tuusula municipality, Finland, 43 kilometers outside of the capital of Helsinki. The school was the site of a rare Finnish school shooting. On November 7, 2007, at approximately 11:44 local time (9:44 UTC) Pekka-Eric Auvinen opened fire at Jokela High School. Hours before the incident, the shooter posted a video on YouTube predicting the massacre at the school.

This is the second time that a school shooting has occurred in Finland. The previous incident occurred in 1989 at the "Raumanmeri" school in Rauma, when a 14-year-old fatally shot two fellow students. Reopening

Jokela High School reopened on November 15, 2007. The school days were short that day and the next, but students were allowed in the building briefly on November 9 to pick up clothing, books, notebooks, etc. Services were held in the town church and in the Tuusula Primary School in the meantime.cite news
