UK Rock Chart

The UK Rock Chart usually refers to the BBC Radio 1 Top 40 Rock Singles. Whilst the chart is compiled by the UK Charts Company, it is not published on their official website and appears only on Radio 1's website, since October 2001 [http://web.archive.org/web/20010929041321/http://www0.bbc.co.uk/radio1/alt/] [http://web.archive.org/web/20011019051239/http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/alt/] , and in ChartsPlus newsletter. Unlike the US counterpart, Hot Modern Rock Tracks, which is compiled solely on the airplay of 80 modern rock stations, the UK equivalent is unlikely to follow the same format as the rigid 'formatting' of radio stations is rare. Currently there is no information available as to the criteria for inclusion in the chart or whether the chart is based on sales, airplay or both.
