2007 MLS Cup Playoffs

The 2007 MLS Cup Playoffs is the postseason to Major League Soccer's 2007 season.

Format

At season's end, the top two teams of each conference will make the playoffs; in addition, the next four highest point totals, regardless of conference, will also be in the playoffs. In the first round of this knockout tournament, aggregate goals over two matches determine the winners; the Conference Championships are one match each, with the winner of each conference advancing to MLS Cup. In all rounds, draws will be broken with two 15-minute periods of extra time, followed by penalty kicks if necessary. The away goals rule is not used.

The Conference standings are used to determine automatic berths to the MLS Cup Playoffs and Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The overall standings table determines wild card berths to the MLS Cup Playoffs, qualification for the SuperLiga, the CONCACAF Champions' Cup, the CONCACAF Champions League, and the winner of the MLS Supporters' Shield.

Conference standings

² - Toronto FC cannot qualify for the CONCACAF Champions League through MLS. Rather, they can qualify through the Canadian Championship.
Should Toronto FC qualify for the Champions League through its MLS position, then the highest ranked team not already qualified will qualify.

³ - Three additional Champions League berths were awarded to the winner and runner up of MLS Cup 2008 (Houston and New England) and the winner of the the 2007 U.S. Open Cup (New England).
Because New England qualified twice, the final berth was awarded to the highest overall finishing MLS team overall not already qualified (Chivas USA).

RD3-score2=2¹The Kansas City Wizards earned the eighth and final playoff berth, despite finishing fifth in the Eastern Conference. They represent the fourth seed in the Western Conference playoff bracket, as only three teams in the Western Conference qualified for the playoffs.
