Kevin Doherty (born April 18 1980 in Dublin, Ireland), is an Irish footballer currently playing for Bray Wanderers in the Eircom League of Ireland Premier Division [http://www.braywanderers.ie/Players.meetthesquad.0.html?&cHash=8a9bda951d&tx_spdirectory_pi1 [mode] =detail&tx_spdirectory_pi1 [modifier] =abc&tx_spdirectory_pi1 [value] =23] .

Doherty who is 6ft 4 tall, plays as an uncompromising central defender. After impressing at underage level for the Irish school internation squad and for Home Farm, Doherty was snapped up by Liverpool in 1998 at the age of 18. Doherty's spell at Liverpool was blighted by a series of injuries including a leg break in 1999. The injuries had taken toll on Doherty's progression and it was no surprise when he returned to Irish football in 2001 signing for Shelbourne. Doherty made his Shelbourne debut in August 2001 in a league fixture against Dundalk but never regained his earlier promise and form despite winning league winners medals at the Tolka Park club. Doherty was loaned out by Shels for the 2005 season to Waterford United. He had an assured season at Waterford but it was not enough to keep him at Shelbourne and Doherty was released by Shels in January 2006 when he signed for Longford Town. Doherty joined Bray Wanderers in November 2007.
