S.E.X. Appeal (pronounced "sex appeal") is a German eurodance/techno group.

E-Rotic

" Main Article: E-Rotic:"

Originally comprising Lyane Leigh and American-born Raz-Ma-Taz (Richard Michael Smith), the group started in 1994 and recorded throughout the rest of the 1990s. However by June 1996, both members of the group had left due to a disagreement between Leigh and producer David Brandes. E-Rotic was now comprised Jeanette Christensen and Terence d'Arby (not to be confused with Terence Trent D'Arby). Lyane Leigh continued to provide vocal work for several albums until 1999 due to contract, but she and Raz-Ma-Taz formed their own group in the meantime, known as S.E.X. Appeal.

History

After leaving "E-Rotic" Lyane and Raz-Ma-Taz formed their own group (S.E.X. Appeal).Their first single was "Voulez-vous coucher avec moi" (not be confused with Labelle's Lady Marmalade) presented in the Disco Club "Fun" in München (Germany) at 1996, there also was announced they departure form E-Rotic and the beginning of S.E.X. Appeal. "Voulez Vous Coucher Avec Moi" was an instant hit: Popular around the Europe and was even more successful than in Germany (E-Rotic's main market). For instance it was song #18 in the Austrian charts for 10 weeks In 1997 Michael Smith (Raz-Ma-Taz) left S.E.X. Appeal to join the group Magical Affair.Months later the singer and entertainer Ginno Gillian make as Leigh's partner; their release S.E.X. Appeal's second single: "Life Goes Up - Life Goes Down" produced by Lyane Leigh and her brother, Thijs. In February 1998 their third single; "Dirty Talk" was released by German label Jupiter Records. 6 months later the fourth single was released: "Sex Is A Thrill With The Pill".

Lyane proved herself to be not only an interesting artist but also a businesswoman. With her brother Thijs she established company called "3H Music Production" specialized in production of music (main point: pop and dance music), remixing, artists management etc. 3H Music Production is also a record label. In fact the first single under "new management" by S.E.X. Appeal entitled: "Hanky Spanky" was released by this label in July 1999 followed by the next one "Manga Maniac" both reminding the E-Rotic innuendo sound.

After releasing "Manga Maniac", Gillian left the group and Lyane continued with S.E.X. Appeal as a single vocalist project with the release of the first album of S.E.X. Appeal entitled "Peeping Tom" (included songs recorded by Smith and Gillian).

The next S.E.X. Appeal singles was: "Do You Love Me" (2004), "Fragile Love" (2006) and "Let Me Feel Your Sex Appeal" (2007).

In October 2007, "Sensuality", the second S.E.X. Appeal album was released now with more a techno sound instead the eurodance that the group use to had.
