GW-9800 Gundam Airmaster

GW-9800 Gundam Airmaster

The GW-9800 Gundam Airmaster is a fictional weapon from the After War timeline of the anime Gundam metaseries.

GW-9800 Gundam Airmaster

It is one of three Gundam-type mobile suits which were used by the Old United Nations Earth during the 7th Space War in the anime series After War Gundam X. Like the other two units, the Gundam Airmaster also features a flash system, which allows a Newtype pilot to remotely control mobile bits, in the Airmaster’s case, the FW-9800 GW-Bit. The Airmaster also was one of the first mobile suits equipped with the TransSystem, which allowed the Airmaster to transform into a fighter-like craft capable of atmospheric flight. Also, because of this system, the Gundam is a strong force in aerial combat, despite the fact that it's lightly armed with only vulcan guns, a pair of buster rifles and optional missiles.

Like other Gundams, Gundam Airmaster can be docked with G-Falcon fighter. In this case, Gundam Airmaster needs to be in fighter mode and the G-Falcon will serve as a large booster. It also improve the firepower of Airmaster with a pair of scattering beam cannons and an infrared-guided missile launcher.

Although the Old United Nations Earth constructed a high number of this mobile suit, only one unit is known to have survived the mass colony drop and in AW 0015 this unit is used by Witz Sou. Witz's Gundam Airmaster was heavily damaged by the NRMA-006 Gadeel but later it was repaired and upgraded to the GW-9800-B Gundam Airmaster Burst by the Estardo government.

FW-9800 (GW-9800-GB) GW-Bit

In the series Gundam X, the Old United Nations Earth introduced the Gundam-type mobile suit in the seventh Space War to fight against the Space Revolutionary Army. Each Gundam featured a flash system, which allowed a Newtype to remotely control a number of bit mobile suits, or Mobile Bits. The FW-9800 (GW-9800-GB) GW-Bit was one such bit (G-Bit), and it was used by the GW-9800 Gundam Airmaster. The only weapons of GW-Bit were the same buster rifles which are used by the Gundam Airmaster.

When the SRA dropped a large number of colonies on the Earth, all GW-Bits were destroyed and only one Gundam Airmaster survived.

GW-9800-B Gundam Airmaster Burst

The Gundam Airmaster Burst is the upgraded version of the Gundam Airmaster in the anime series Gundam X. The Gundam Airmaster was heavily damaged in a battle with the NRMA-006 Gadeel mobile armor and the Estard government offered their help in repairing the Gundam and the Freeden crew accepted the offer. The new Gundam was not only newly painted but also its armor and firepower were increased. Also the mechanics installed additional jets which increased the performance of the suit, and offset the added weight of the new armor and weaponry.
