James O'Dea

James O'Dea

James O'Dea is a Fellow and immediate past President of the Institute of Noetic Sciences and a former faculty member of the Omega Institute. He is a former Executive Director of the Seva Foundation and a former Director of the Washington, DC office of Amnesty International. He is a member of The World Wisdom Council and currently collaborating with the Global Systems Initiatives in Washington DC, and an Evolutionary Leaders group spearheaded by Deepak Chopra.

He was born in Ireland. Attended Haberdashers' Aske's Hatcham Grammar School for Boys in London Haberdashers' Aske's Hatcham College Received B.A. Hons University of London, M.A. School for International Training School for International Training in Vermont. Head of English at Tarsus American School in Turkey Tarsus American College and founder of Ecumenical Travel Office of The Middle East Council of Churches in Beirut. He was Executive Director of the Seva Foundation and before that Director of The Washington Office of Amnesty International USA. He is currently a Fellow and immediate past President of the Institute of Noetic Sciences

Keynote speaker for many conference including Peace Alliance, Science and Consciousness Conference, Engaging The Other, Alliance for a New Humanity, Goi Peace Foundation and others. He has featured essays on peace and social healing, evolutionary trends, and science and consciousness in numerous books and articles. Lectures worldwide on global healing, evolutionary change, consciousness, science and spirituality etc. He has been co-leader of international social healing dialogues, core faculty of three international conferences, 2006-2008 entitled Engaging The Other:The Power of Compassion; and active in inter-generational dialogue and emerging leadership initiatives. He is an Advisory Board member of Children of the Earth.
