Carlos Reyes (full name "Juan Carlos Renato Ruiz de Vasquez") is a fictional character from the soap opera "All My Children". He was portrayed by actor Maximillian Alexander, from February 4 2003 until the character's death in December 2003.

Character history

Several years before coming to Pine Valley, Juan Carlos is taking a walk along his family's ranch in Argentina and discovers a man named Sergio about to rape a young woman. Juan Carlos comes to the woman's defense and ends up killing Sergio. Soon after, Juan Carlos is forced to flee to the United States.

As an adult, Juan Carlos (who has shortened his name to Carlos), is a handyman at Fusion Cosmetics. Suddenly, Greenlee Smythe is receiving anonymous emails and love poems. Carlos and Greenlee are already pretty friendly toward each other, but she has no idea that he is her secret admirer. Soon, Greenlee decides to dig a little deeper and summons Carlos to her apartment on the pretense of fixing a pipe that has burst.

Putting their difference in backgrounds aside, the two begin dating. Greenlee finds out the emails are from someone else and breaks up with Carlos. She soon forgives him, however, and the two begin dating again.

Greenlee then uses her relationship with Carlos to manipulate the owner of Lacey's Department Store to get her to stock Fusion products. After Simone Torres inadvertently tips off Carlos, he goes to confront her. Despite Greenlee's pleas, Carlos ends their relationship and quits his job at Fusion. Stuart Chandler offers him a job at his art gallery and allows Carlos to showcase his own work.

A man comes to town and shows up at Fusion asking questions about the company. After doing some detective work, Tad Martin discovers that the man is Carlos' brother, Juan Pablo. Juan Pablo is in Pine Valley to protect Carlos from the Argentinian mob that seeks revenge for Sergio's death.

The mob is hot on Juan Pablo's trail and come looking for Carlos. Juan Pablo arranges to get Carlos out of Pine Valley. Carlos realizes that he has to break up with Greenlee in order to protect her. Greenlee is not willing to accept the lie that Carlos is just using her. She tracks him down to an alley one night and demands answers. Then, a car comes out of nowhere and speeds toward them. Carlos pushes Greenlee out of the way and is run over.

Ryan Lavery discovers Carlos and Greenlee and calls for an ambulance. Greenlee has a concussion and some memory loss. Unfortunately, Carlos is in critical condition. A guard is put outside Carlos' room. The old man hit Carlos shows up with his grandson and asks if they can see him. Juan Pablo figures out that they are trying to finish the job and thwarts another attempt on Carlos' life.

Carlos is still too weak to be moved to another hospital. He soon gets stronger, and after another operation, Maria Santos gives Juan Pablo the o.k. to move Carlos. Carlos, however, takes a turn for the worse. Simone comes to see Carlos and he begins to have trouble breathing. Despite the doctor's efforts, Carlos dies.

Maria's husband, Edmund Grey, finds out that one of the nurses who was in the operating room was part of the mob. The nurse implanted a bone fragment in Carlos' chest and that's what caused his death. Juan Pablo leaves town seeking justice for Carlos' murder.
