"Yishu - Journal of Contemporary Chinese Art", founded in 2002 by Ken Lum and Shengtian Zheng, is a leading journal in the coverage of Chinese contemporary art and culture. With each quarterly issue, you will find scholarly essays on topical matters, critical commentary of conferences, exhibitions and books in the Chinese art field. Yishu aims to provide an authoritative forum for dialogue and debate around the visual and literary forms being produced within an expanded understanding of Chinese Contemporary Art. Yishu functions as a meaningful voice through which scholars, artists, critics, and curators can disseminate their ideas and opinions. It also provides those interested in contemporary Chinese art with knowledge about the issues that are both cultivating the development of contemporary art in China as well as challenging it.

Recently the publication took part in the Documenta 12 magazines project.

The magazine is published in English and distributed internationally.
