"I'd Lie for You (And That's the Truth)" is a song composed and written by Diane Warren, and recorded by Meat Loaf and Patti Russo. The song was released in 1995 as the first single from the album "Welcome to the Neighborhood". The single release reached #2 in the UK and #13 in the U.S.

Music video

The video for "I'd Lie for You" was directed by Howard Greenhalgh. The video pertained as a nod to the "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and featured Meat Loaf trying to rescue and win back the heart of the women who cheated on him. The video is an obvious sequel to the "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)" video, starting off after the motorcycle rides into the sunset (which happened at the end of the "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)" video). The video was criticized for being too complex and the action scenes being over the top.

ingle release

The "I'd Lie for You" single was released as two CDs. The regular edition was backed with live versions of "Hot Patootie (Whatever Happened to Saturday Night?)" and "I'd Do Anything for Love", while the limited edition contained the non-album track "Oh, What a Beautiful Morning" from "Oklahoma!" and the album track "Runnin' for the Red Light".
