Linda A. Morabito

Linda A. Morabito-Kelly (a.k.a. Linda Hyder as seen on BBC Series "PLANETS" part 2) was employed at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory during the Voyager deep space missions as the a navigation engineer of the Optical Navigation Imaging Processing System (ONIPS). While surveying the photographs of the first encounter of the Voyager 1 spacecraft at Jupiter in 8 March1979, she detected that the close moon of Jupiter, Io, shows on one of the photographs a 300-km tall cloud along its limb.cite journal | last=Morabito |first=L. This was the first time in history that active volcanism was detected outside of the earth. Later, she became the program development manager at The Planetary Society.
