SMA Negeri 3 Bandung (also known as SMU 3 Bandung or SMA 3 Bandung) is a public high school located at Belitung street in Bandung, Indonesia. It shares the same building with SMA Negeri 5 Bandung, consequently giving the schools the nickname SMA Belitung after the street.

The school gains its credibility for its academic achievements, such as how most of its graduates enrolled in Indonesia's top universities, e.g. Institut Teknologi Bandung. SMA Negeri 3 Bandung was established in 1953, occupying a former Dutch colonial school building. [ [ Forum Alumni 3 - Offline ] ] The building, lying 8,220 square meters wide on a 14,240 square metres area, was designed by C.P. Wolff Schoemaker. The contruction began in 1916. Initially three high schools shared the building, with the other two being SMA Negeri 2 and 5 Bandung.

By 1966, SMA Negeri 2 started occupying a new building in Jalan Cihampelas. [ [ :: SMAN 2 Bandung :: ] ] SMA Negeri 3 has been using the eastern part of the building ever since, with SMA Negeri 5 residing in the rest.


Currently, the school is divided into 10 classes every batch, with the current trend being the majority of enrolled students preferring to major on natural to social sciencefix|link=Wikipedia:Citation_needed|text=citation needed. Gifted student with excellent academic achievement has option an to enroll on the academic accelerated program [] , shortening the time of study from three to two years.

Students are free to choose any extracurricular activities from a large selection of clubs. The most prominent and popular clubs are Moslem Society Council, Angklung Ensemble Society, Classical Music Club, Japanese Culture Study, and Debating Club. The Angklung Ensemble Society (in Indonesian: "Keluarga Paduan Angklung" or KPA) has been frequently invited to various music festivals in Indonesia and overseas, including "Expanding Sound of Angklung" festival in 2004, where the members were involved in European touring concerts taking place in Germany, Belgium, France, and several others.
