"The Saginaw News" is an award-winning daily newspaper publication based in Saginaw, Michigan, owned by Booth Newspapers, a division of Advance Publications. The paper has approximately 50,000 readers each day. It will celebrate its 150th year in 2009.

"The Saginaw News" is the sister publication of the neighboring "Bay City Times" and "Flint Journal", all owned by Booth Newspapers.

Staff

"The Saginaw News" is headed up by editor/publisher Paul Chaffee, who joined the publication in 1981. Its editorial staff is led by metro editor Jodi McFarland, and assistants Paul Rau, Ken Tabacsko and Stacey Henson. The news editor is Brian Hlavaty; sports editor, Paul Neumeyer; on-line, photo and graphics editor, Bernie Eng. Readership

Scarborough Corp., an independent readership assessment organization, recently reported that The Saginaw News has the second highest daily readership (as a percentage of its market) of the many U.S. newspapers for which it reports data. Scarborough ranks the paper's Sunday readership fourth among U.S. markets. Including its web page, the paper's readership is about 85 percent of its market — roughly the boundaries of Saginaw County, population 206,000 in the 2007 U.S. Census Bureau update.
