Václav Ježek (born
1 October 1923 atZvolen ; died27 August 1995 atPrague ) was the coach of theCzechoslovakia national football team when they won the1976 UEFA European Football Championship .He wasn't so good player but became famous coach. In the sixtiees, he became a coach of Sparta Prague. Team was in crisis but than won two titles under Ježek. After this success, he left Czechoslovakia and moved to Netherlands. He was coach of ADO Den Haag (3rd place in league) and Feyenoord in 70-80s (2nd place in league). He was a head coach of Czechoslovakia national team 1972 - 1978. He create a new team with talented players as Ivo Viktor, Alexander Vencel, Antonín Panenka, Ladislav Jurkemik, Zdeněk Nehoda, Anton Ondruš, jaroslav Pollák or Jan Pivarník. The team won European Championship in 1976 but not participate on World Championship in 1978. Ježek left team and head coach became his assistent Jozef Vengloš. In 80s Ježek was twotimes a coach of Sparta Prague again and started a long serie of Sparta's successes. He won several titles with team. In 1993, he was a provisory head coach of Czech - Slovakia team (after splitting Czech and Slovak republik in november 1992) in a part of World Championship qualification. In 90s he was also a member of managerial stuff in Slavia Prague.
