"The Big Doe Rehab" is the seventh album by American rapper and Wu-Tang Clan member Ghostface Killah. Ghostface first announced the album's release in a video on his MySpace page on October 9 2007.

The album was released on December 4, 2007. This initially conflicted with the release date of Wu-Tang Clan's fifth group album "8 Diagrams", a fact Ghostface was reported to be unhappy with, according to an interview with MTV.com [ [http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/page/news/46416-ghostface-upset-about-wu-tang-release-date Pitchfork: Ghostface Upset About Wu-Tang Release Date ] ] In response to this, RZA subsequently announced the delay of "8 Diagrams" by a further week so as not to clash with the release of "The Big Doe Rehab". Album Title

Yeah, the Big Doe Rehab. Y'all already know what it do, yanahmean? ...This one is based on... I had a vision one night, it came to me, yanahmean? I dreamt I was in rehab, yanahmean? But for having mad money yanahmean? Like like like, me and a bunch of old white dudes yanahmean? You know, dreams is funny, you can't really remember the dreams — but I was someplace, I don't even know if was rehab, but it was mad money in there yanawhmean? So when I woke up, the first thing that came to my mind was The Big Doe Rehab. I take a list of titles and write them in my book, my rhyme book, yanawmean? which I might use in the future, yanawhmean? So when I got up and I caught that vision, this one, for some reason, this one just stayed in my head, and I said, "Imma run with that" Imma make my album cover line along with that...
Now, in the rehab, you could have the old, old, old... ..you know the kid that Anna Nicole Smith was banging, yanawhmean? That type of old dude that just... ..money since the '30s, yanahmean? A Chinese man could have got rich from the Chinese restaurant, in the rehab with you... this little kid could been born in the yanawmean? ...pictures with a baby in a carriage... ..a baby, he got rich from inheritance, too much money.... ...I wanted to go in the era, in that realm and starting painting a few pictures... That's what The Big Doe Rehab is based on, someone that got showered with mad cream, yanawmean? ...cash rules everything around me, but it don't rule me, you feel me? It don't rule me cause, I'm the sole controller of all this. So the The Big Doe Rehab is just like is, yo man, is how you say it. The first thing that come to your mind, that's what it is."

Ghostface explaining the reason for the album title in an interview for MTV.com

It should be noted that frequent Wu collaborator, Cappadonna can be heard using the album title in a verse for the song "Careful (Click, Click)" from the Wu Tang Clan album "The W", released in 2000 ("...catch me at the big doe rehab/trynna re-up...").

Album Information

The album features guest appearances from fellow Wu-Tang members Raekwon, Method Man, U-God, and Masta Killa as well as from Kid Capri, Cappadonna and members of Ghostface's Theodore Unit crew. It also features production from LV & Sean C. from Sean "Diddy" Combs' production team, The Hitmen.

December 4 will also see the release of a book based on a previous series of Ghostface MTV2 appearances, and entitled "The World According to Pretty Toney".

Full audio of a clean-edit version of "The Big Doe Rehab" is currently streaming on Def Jam's web site.
