George Cressler Young (born 1916) was an American lawyer and
Young was in private practice in Miami from 1947 to 1948. He was
administrative assistantto U.S. Representative and later U.S. Senator George Smathersfrom 1948 to 1951. Young was in private practice in Jacksonville from 1951 to 1961.
John F. Kennedynominated Young to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Floridaand United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida, to the seat vacated by George W. Whitehurst. Confirmed by the Senate on September 14, 1961, he received commission on September 18, 1961.
Young was reassigned to the
United States District Court for the Middle District of Floridaon October 29, 1962. He served as chief judge from 1973 to 1981, and assumed senior statuson October 19, 1981.
