USAG compulsory routines

The USAG compulsory routines are the required routines for competition in USAG and JO levels 1-6. Typically gymnasts compete levels four, five, and six, however, in some regions, competitions can be as early as level 2. Levels 7-10 are optional levels in where the gymnast make up his or her own routines. After 10 there is elite and then the olympic level.

Vault

Two vaults are performed by each competitor.

LEVEL 1

Straight jump onto minimum 8” mat

Uneven Bars

All uneven bar routines are

LEVEL 1

* Pullover
* Cast
* Backward hip circle,
* Cast push away.

LEVEL 2

* Pullover
* Cast
* Backward hip circle
* Cast straddle on
* Sole circle dismount.

LEVEL 3

* Pullover
* Cast
* Backward hip circle
* Single leg cut forward
* Forward stride circle
* Single leg cut backward
* Cast legs straight on
* Piked sole circle dismount

LEVEL 4

* Glide(straddle or pike) and return to stand with feet together
* Pullover
* Front hip circle
* Cast, single leg shoot through
* Forward stride circle
* Single leg cut the leg backward
* Back hip circle - underswing dismount

LEVEL 5

* Glide Kip(straddle or pike)
* Front hip Circle
* Cast to horizontal and return to support
* Cast squat or pike on
* Long hang kip
* Cast to horizontal, back hip circle
* Underswing
* Counter swing to 30º below horizontal
* Tap Swing forward
* Counter swing to 15º below horizontal
* Tap swing forward with ½ turn dismount

LEVEL 6

* Glide Kip(straddle or pike)
* Cast to 30º above horizontal
* Free hip circle to 30º above horizontal
* Glide kip(straddle or pike)
* cast squat or pike on back tuck sole circle jump to high bar OR squat on jump to high bar
* Long hang kip, Cast to 30º above horizontal
* Baby giant
* Underswing
* Counter swing to 15º below horizontal
* Tap Swing forward
* Counter swing to horizontal
* Tap swing forward to flyaway in tuck, pike, or layout

Balance Beam

If a competitor touches the ground at anytime during the balance beam routine, there is an automatic deduction.

LEVEL 1

* Jump to front support
* Tuck sit
* Roll back to candlestick, Hold 2 seconds
* Arabesque (show)
* Step coupé press to relevé Right and Left
* Relevé walks
* Stretch Jump
* Stretch Jump dismount

LEVEL 2

* Jump to front support
* Tuck sit V sit
* Forward roll to stand
* Arabesque (hold 1 second)
* Step kick Right and Left
* Step Relevé balance, (Hold 2 seconds)
* Tuck Jump
* Tuck Jump dismount

LEVEL 3

* Jump to front support
* Tuck sit V sit whip to push up bend bad leg stand up
* Kick to partial Handstand step down
* Arabesque (hold 1 second)
* 3 running steps finish in relevé balance position
* Pivot turn
* Split Jump (60º)
* Handstand hold for 1 sec. staight body snap down hands still on beam finish

LEVEL 4

* salute the judges
* Leg swing mount
* Tuck, pike, straddle swing to squat
* Coupé walk, Heel snap turn
* Straight leg leap (60º) Arms…one of the 3 techniques in the glossary
* ¾ Cross Handstand
* Half turn — leg position forward coupé, arms same as present cycle
* Stretch jump, tuck jump… arms lower after each jump
* Arabesque (45º) below hor., Scale (horizontal),
* Pivot turn
* Cartwheel to side handstand, (hold 1 second) ¼ turn dismount

LEVEL 5

* Leg swing mount, Arms up and then behind.
* “V” sit stand up on one leg
* Coupé dévelopé 45º off the beam hold 1 second, step coupé Heel snap turn
* Straight leg leap (90º) Arms…one of the 3 techniques in the glossary
* Cross Handstand hold 1 second, finish, kick in frount and then in back with arms out
* 2 Pivot turns
* Turn to side. leg position forward coupé arms same as present cycle. pose,kick half turn.
* Cartwheel
* Stretch jump, split jump(90º)
* arms lower after each jump, walks after jumps- step sept and kick below horizontal and bring in front of foot standing on, bending knees slightly, step & step
* Arabesque (>45º) below hor. Scale (above horizontal),1 piviot turn, pose
* Cartwheel to side handstand, (hold 2 seconds) ¼ turn dismount

LEVEL 6

* Leg swing mount
* “V” sit
* Coupé dévelopé side slightly off the beam, ronde de jambe to 45º off the beam forward hold 1 sec. pull to coupé Heel snap turn
* Straight leg leap (120º) Arms…one of the 3 techniques in the glossary
* Back walkover or Back extension
* 2 Pivot turns
* Full turn — leg position forward passé. Arms in crown
* Tuck jump, split jump (120º)
* arms lower after each jump
* Arabesque (>45º) below horizontal Scale (45º above horizontal),
* Cross Handstand (hold 2 seconds) ¼ turn to side handstand (hold 2 seconds), ¼ turn dismount

* Forward roll tuck

* Straight lying side log roll, push up, tuck stand, straight stand

* Side Cartwheel ¼ turn in
* Backward roll tuck to pike stand with bent arms

* Split jump(no specific degree required)
* Step Lock pivot turn
* Forward chassé pose

LEVEL 3

* Handstand forward roll (arms straight or bent)
* 1-3 steps hurdle round off
* Backward roll with Straight arms to pike stand

LEVEL 6

* Straddle jump(150º), stretch jump w/ ½ turn
* Back handspring step out
* Forward salto tuck
* Side chassé w/ ¼ turn, passé hop with ½ turn
* Front handspring step out, front handspring 2 feet rebound
* Straight leg leap (150º) Side leap(150º)
