Hertfordshire County Council is the upper-tier
local authorityfor the non-metropolitan countyof Hertfordshire, in England, the United Kingdom. It currently consists of 77 councillors, and is controlled by the Conservative Party, which has 46 councillors, versus 16 Labour councillors, 14 Liberal Democrats, and one Green.
Elections are held every four years, interspersed by three years of elections to the ten district councils in the county.
Conservative candidates represent most of the county's rural areas, and almost all of eastern Hertfordshire is Conservative-controlled.
St Albansand Watfordare disproportionately represented by Liberal Democrats, whilst Hemel Hempsteadand Stevenageare Labour's strongest areas. All seats in the districts of Broxbourneand East Hertfordshireare represented by Conservative councillors.
