BOC Edwards Pharmaceutical Systems (BOC EPS) is one of the few companies which are in the field of freeze drying manufacturing especially for the pharmaceutical and biotechnological companies. BOC EPS designs, manufactures, installs and services integrated systems predominantly for the pharmaceutical primary packaging market. It specializes in the production of vial washing machines, sterilization / depyrogenation tunnels, stoppering machines, fully automated loading & unloading systems and industrial freeze dryers / lyophilizers. Organization

It is a part of the Industrial Section of the BOC Edwards group which is a part of the multinational industrial gas company The BOC Group. The BOC Group was recently acquired by the The Linde Group.Fact|date=October 2007 BOC EPS is a $100 million business unit of the Linde Group which is a $17 billion multi-national company based in Germany.

BOC EPS has manufacturing plants, sales and service centers at Tonawanda, New York in USA, Dongen in Netherlands, Beijing in China and São Paulo in Brazil. Apart from its manufacturing plants, it has sales and service centres at Tokyo and Kumamoto in Japan and Milan in Italy. It has services centre in Los Angeles, USA, Puerto Rico and Ireland. It has sales offices in Shanghai, Kunming and Hong Kong in China along with Paris in France.

History

1945: Edwards started manufacturing freeze dryers
1955: Edwards acquired Alto Vuoto, a freeze dryer manufacturer in Milan, Italy
1968: Edwards acquired by The BOC Group
1972: Edwards acquired Kniese, a freeze dryer manufacturer in Marburg, Germany
1992: Restructuring of Freeze Drying business resource centralised in Tonawanda, USA
1994: Calumatic BV (Dongen, NL) was acquired and combined with Edwards Freeze Drying
1994-1998: Businesses integrated & loading system range expanded and refined
2001: Started building Freeze Dryers in Dongen
2004: Edwards Tianli Pharmaceutical Systems (ETPS) founded as a joint venture between BOC EPS and Tianli Cryogenic in Beijing, China
2006: BOC Group acquired by The Linde Group
