Ann Thompson Gerry (pronEng|ˈgɛri) was the wife of Vice-President Elbridge Gerry. She is regarded as the second Second Lady of the United States following Abigail Adams because Thomas Jefferson, Aaron Burr, and George Clinton were widowers during their tenures as Vice-President.

The daughter of a wealthy New York mechant, Thompson married Gerry in 1786. Mrs. Gerry gave birth ten times between 1787 and 1801, which caused her many health problems [http://www.senate.gov/artandhistory/history/resources/pdf/elbridge_gerry.pdf] .
