Astrid Park

Parc Astrid (French) or Astridpark (Dutch) is an urban public park in Anderlecht, Brussels, Belgium, inaugurated on August 13, 1911. It was named "Parc du Meir/Meirpark" until the mayor of Anderlecht decided to change the name in memory of Astrid of Sweden in 1935 who died in a tragic car accident that year. Since 1917, football club R.S.C. Anderlecht plays its home matches in the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium (previously known as the 'Stade Emile Versé'), within the park. Besides, that stadium is sometimes referred to as "Parc Astrid".
