Kalbeliya

A tribe of Roma from India, of the Dom branch.

Name

They get their name from the Goddess Kali, and are snakecharmers by tradition. It is where the common image of the snakecharmer from India came to Western culture.

Customs

As snake experts, they perform their rituals dressed mainly in black, the colour of their Goddess.
