Rambo apple

Rambo apple

The historic Rambo variety of apple was introduced to the American colony of New Sweden in 1637 by Peter Gunnarsson Rambo, a Swedish immigrant. The greenish yellow apple with red stripes ripens in mid-summer, and is good for pies, jelly, and drying. There is also a winter apple variation.

The apple also has the honour of being namesake to fictional character John Rambo.
