Dolliver is a city in Emmet County, Iowa, United States. The population was 77 at the 2000 census. Dolliver was named for United States Senator Jonathan P. Dolliver who was a prominent politician when the town was established in 1900 as a stop on a new railroad line. The railroad line on which the town was established was shutdown in the early 1970s.

Geography

Dolliver is located at 43°27′53″N 94°36′54″W / 43.46472°N 94.615°W / 43.46472; -94.615 (43.464821, -94.614877)[1].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.4 square miles (1.0 km2), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 77 people, 38 households, and 19 families residing in the city. The population density was 210.9 people per square mile (80.4/km²). There were 46 housing units at an average density of 126.0 per square mile (48.0/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.70% White and 1.30% Asian. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.90% of the population.

There were 38 households out of which 10.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.0% were married couples living together, and 47.4% were non-families. 39.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 28.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.03 and the average family size was 2.70.

In the city the population was spread out with 13.0% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 24.7% from 25 to 44, 29.9% from 45 to 64, and 24.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 48 years. For every 100 females there were 102.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.4 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $28,036, and the median income for a family was $34,375. Males had a median income of $28,750 versus $21,944 for females. The per capita income for the city was $18,387. None of the population and none of the families were below the poverty line.
