De Trafford Baronets

De Trafford Baronets

The de Trafford Baronetcy, of Trafford Park in the County Palatine of Lancaster, is a title in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. It was created on 7 September 1841, for Thomas de Trafford. The de Trafford family is one of the most ancient families in England, tracing its roots back to Radulphus, who died in about 1050. As Anglo-Saxons, the family initially resisted the Norman invasion, but was granted a pardon shortly after the conquest, taking the Norman name of de Trafford. The surname was later anglicized to Trafford, but the first Baronet assumed the earlier surname of de Trafford, by Royal license. See also Trafford Park.
