The Diocese of Southwark forms part of the Province of Canterbury in England. It was formed on May 1, 1905 from part of the Diocese of Rochester. [London Gazette. March 21, 1905.]

It covers Greater London south of the River Thames and north and east Surrey.

The diocese is divided into three Episcopal Areas each of which contains two Archdeaconries:
*Croydon Episcopal Area (overseen by the Bishop of Croydon)
**the Archdeaconry of Croydon
***includes Deaneries of Croydon Addington, Croydon Central, Croydon North, Croydon South and Sutton
**the Archdeaconry of Reigate
***includes Deaneries of Caterham, Godstone, Reigate
*Kingston Episcopal Area (overseen by the Bishop of Kingston)
**the Archdeaconry of Lambeth
***includes Deaneries of Brixton, Clapham, Lambeth, Streatham and Merton
**the Archdeaconry of Wandsworth
***includes Deaneries of Battersea, Kingston, Richmond & Barnes, Tooting and Wandsworth
*Woolwich Episcopal Area (overseen by the Bishop of Woolwich)
**the Archdeaconry of Lewisham
***includes Deaneries of Charlton, Deptford, East Lewisham, Eltham & Mottingham, Plumstead, and West Lewisham
**the Archdeaconry of Southwark
***includes Deaneries of Bermondsey, Camberwell, Dulwich and Southwark & Newington
