Technology Advances

Since the launch of the new student portal, mySirius, in June 2006, the University of Northwestern Ohio information technology advancements continue at a rapid pace.

mySirius is the UNOH student portal to all online student services. The improved customer service for UNOH students has been a tremendous asset. Students now can register and pay for classes online, get their class schedules online, receive financial aid award letters online, and order books for classes online through Barnes and Noble at UNOH.

The UNOH College of Distance Learning (College of Business only) allows students to earn their degree from anywhere in the world. For example, a UNOH student from California can log into mySirius and find all necessary information at his or her fingertips.

In the last eighteen months the university has also added Atomic Learning, Presidium, Proquest, SMARTTHINKING, and OhioLINK to its online services. Atomic Learning offers online tutorials for common applications for Microsoft Office products, Digital Imaging like Photoshop, and basic HTML tutorials. Presidium is a 24 x 7 technical support service provided to support students who need assistance with online campus services. Proquest is an online research library allowing students to search through a vast selection of newspaper and magazine articles, as well as text from books. This powerful research tool is a great source for gathering information students need to finish projects and papers. SMARTTHINKING provides live, person-to-person, tutoring over the Internet for help with course work at any time of day or night. UNOH has also recently joined OhioLINK, a collaboration of libraries, which will give its students access to over 46 million resources across Ohio.
