A disaster took place in Sum during the floods of September 1992 and July 2001. The entire village was under flood and the schools and the houses of the local population floated away. Only the thing standing was the Sum Mansion of the Khans. This is because it was built while looking forward the village’s history. This Mansion has an underground base of eighteen feet depth and the thickness of the underground walls is ten feet. The main old bridge was destroyed in the first flood. Shahzada Muhammad Gushtasip Khan made a new bridge for the village which was named after the late son of Haroon Khan Badshah as “Shahzada Muhammad Azim Khan Pul”.
