The class 11 locomotives hold the monopoly on Benelux trains between Brussels (Belgium) & Amsterdam (Netherlands). (Thalys units also work along this route.) They operate in push pull mode - remote controlled from a leading Driving Carriage when at the rear of the train. They are numbered to avoid clashing with the NS Class 1100 locos.

They are painted to match the dutch coaching stock they work with.

The class 11 locomotives are dual-voltage (1500 V DC and 3000 V DC) with a design based on single-voltage class 21 locomotives.

Due to their limited number and extensive mileage, these locomotives are ageing fast and subject to failures, leading to frequent service disruptions.
