The Zenith STOL CH 801 is a four-seat sport utility kit aircraft based on the two-seat STOL CH 701 design developed by Chris Heintz.Fact|date=December 2007

Development

The larger STOL CH 801 expands the utility of the STOL CH 701 model by increasing the useful load from 500 lb to 1,000 lb (225 to 450 kg). While the two designs share many similarities in appearance, they do not share any airframe parts due to the larger size of the STOL CH 801.Fact|date=December 2007

Features

The STOL CH 801 uses a deep wing chord, a full-length leading edge slats and trailing edge flaperons to develop tremendous lift at low speed, while maintaining a short wing-span for maximum strength and ground maneuverability.Fact|date=December 2007

The STOL CH 801 design utilizes ‘Hoerner’ wing tips to maximize the wing’s effective lift area, minimize wing tips vortices and provide the largest effective span for a given geometric span and wing weight.Fact|date=December 2007

Production

The STOL CH 801 is available in kit form from the Zenith Aircraft Company. By the fall of 2007 120 CH 801s had been completed and were flying.Kitplanes Staff: "2008 Kit Aircraft Directory", page 80, Kitplanes Magazine December 2007 Volume 24, Number 12, Belvior Publications, Aviation Publishing Group LLC.]
