James H. Williams, aka Jim Williams or J.H. Williams, is a retried American politician, member of the Democratic Party. Williams is best know for serving as Lieutenant Governor of Florida from 1975 to 1979. He was the second Lt. Governor under Governor Reubin O'Donovan Askew (his second term). Williams remained in office and didn't serve the next term, because he was replaced by fellow democrat Wayne Mixson, who was running-mate of Bob Graham, who succeeded term-limited Askew. In addition, Williams also served as the Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. [http://sjr.state.fl.us/governingboard/archive/Williams_Jim.html]

Williams is still living as of 2007. He runs a real estate agency in Ocala, Florida with other employers and members of his family. Jim Williams and his family have also given vast acres of protected land to Marion County, FL and also own and maintain some of Florida's orange groves. He protects Lake Weir, and important aspect of his home city. [This lake's tributary, the Ocklawaha River, would have been damaged if plans had continued to take gallons of water out of it each day.]
