Turn (2005, Setanta Records)

The Third full length offering from the Irish Indie Trio. 'Turn' offered a more pop/singer songwriter direction for Meath based band. Their first album, Antisocial had shown a strong Pixies style influence, their second album Forward offered an even darker side to the bands sound, but with 'Turn' they showed they weren’t getting any darker. The album was a mixture of catchy pop tunes such as 'It's About Nothing' and 'Stop', and also more Elliot Smith inspired tunes, such as 'Close Your Eyes' and 'Wildside'.
Opinions were very mixed about the album among fans and critics. Some called it a mile stone in musical growth for the band, others claimed it was a last ditch effort by the band to become more commercial and popular on the Irish airwaves. However, the strength of the songs proved themselves and became live favourites instantly on the tours that followed.
With this album, Turn managed to prove they were capable of writing and playing almost any type of music.

Trivia

This was the first time a Turn album was released without a song written or sang by Drummer Ian Melady who wrote 'Queen of My Heart' on AntiSocial and 'Dumb as it is' on Forward

The album was recorded in Joe Elliott's (Def Leppard) home studio Joe's Garage, where Def Leppard have recorded the bulk of all their albums since 1987.

During the Tour for the album, Turn supported Bell X1 and Weezer.

The Final Show of their tour with Bell X1 took place at the Sligo Radisson Hotel. At the end of Bell X1's set, Turn joined them on stage to play David Bowie's hit 'Hero’s'. they were also joined by original Bass player Gavin Fox who had left the band in 2001 to join Idlewild. Gavin returned to the band to play their final tour in late 2005

The band released the Album in 2005, by July 2006 the band had split due to its poor reception. Although the album showed amazing quality and had some of their greatest work, it failed to reach the masses, which many fans have claimed the Irish Media was responsible for, rather than the strength of the album. Although ‘It’s About Nothing’ received heavy rotation on Phantom FM, the major stations such as R.T.E. failed to give the single any attention meaning promotion of the album was very restricted and Setanta Records were unwilling to put much force behind another single.
