Wowhead

Wowhead

Wowhead is a search database for the popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game World of Warcraft.

History

It was created in December 2005, starting with a "Talent Calculator". In June 2006 they released the now-main project which has been described as a "premium online database" [ [http://www.tuaw.com/2008/06/03/wowhead-warcraft-database-releases-os-x-client/ Wowhead Warcraft database releases OS X client] , tuaw.com] . The Database relies upon players of WoW themselves, through the comment system and the client, which records information as the game is being played when the player runs it. They have since become a member of the ZAM Network with other sites such as Thottbot and Allakhazam. Critical acclaim

Wowhead has been called "the new Thottbot" by commentators, citing its cleaner interface, variety of information, occasional contests and developer APIs as areas where it excels over Thottbot. [ [http://borkweb.com/story/wowhead-the-new-thottbot Wowhead, the new Thottbot] , Borkweb.com]

Developers

There are a few developers who help run the business and constantly rework the website.

* Guillaume (Skosiris) He is the co-founder of Wowhead and does the majority of upkeep and reprogramming.

* Joshua (Mystadio) Joshua is the other co-founder of Wowhead. He does most of the programming work that is not done by Guillaume. He works mostly with the items and Wowhead looter add-on. He also develops the new various features and tools of Wowhead.

* Casey (Malgayne) Casey joined in June 2007 as part of the ZAM Network. He works as a developer, specifically contests, giveaways, and promotions, as well as managing suggestion and bug report feedback.

* Brielle (Miyari) Brielle focuses her work on player inputted data, maintaining website integrity in the forums and comments, and sorting user-submitted screenshots.
