Introduction

Mona wants to stay in her apartment building The Clackson Arms, at any cost...

Opening narration

"How well can we ever know our neighbors? Perhaps we might better ask, how well do we want to?"

Plot

Mona, a woman in a wheelchair, is a bit of a hypochondriac. One day while down in the basement, she sees two of the people in her building having sexual intercourse together. She hides from view, but in the process is electrocuted. When she awakes and recovers, she finds out that she can hear the TRUE feelings and thoughts the people in her building have for each other.

On top of this, the building they live in is in the process of being sold. One of their own being the one pushing the sale.

Mona uses her new found ability to blackmail the other people of the building into joining her side in the quest to keep the building. The problem is, this backfires on Mona.

The climax has most everyone in the building killing each other. Thinking she is cured, Mona goes up to her apartment. Her husband awaits her there. He is the one who had been trying to sell the building out from under the other tenants. She finds out that she still has her ability, and then jumps out of the window, falling to her death.

Closing narration

"It is said that our relationships deepen as secrets give way to truth, it may be however, there are some stones better left unturned."
